Position : Temporary Correctional Officer Trainee

Locations : Eyman, Lewis, Winslow, Perryville, Tucson, Safford

  • Salary : $41,580
  • Grade : 12

Job Summary

Starting at an entry-level salary of $19.990 per hour, this position works under close supervision, providing technical assistance to Correctional Officer II's and Security Staff. Responsibilities include inspecting inmate mail and parcels for contraband, maintaining property records, monitoring facility entrances and exits, ensuring compliance with security procedures, and performing administrative tasks. The role requires driving on state business and attending meetings and training. It is a safety-sensitive position, subject to drug-free workplace policies.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least 18 years old
  • No felony convictions
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License
  • Proof of U.S. residency

    • Selective Preferences

    Applicants who complete the following will have priority for a Correctional Officer position :

  • Fitness exam
  • Medical / physical examination
  • Three personal reference letters
  • Criminal background review
  • Proof of U.S. residency and high school diploma or GED
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License

    • Failure to complete any of these requirements will end the temporary assignment after 1500 hours.

    Pre-Employment Requirements

    Applicants must meet minimum qualifications and will need to submit an application, pass a knowledge exam, psychological exam, and background check.
