Capture Manager
Lockheed Martin Space (LMS) is seeking an experienced Capture Manager (CM) who is responsible for building and leading a high performing team of Capture Managers supporting the Mission Strategy and Advanced Capabilities (MSAC) teams to drive win rate, significant growth, and strategic positioning for LM Space programs. This role defines capture strategy, ensures disciplined execution across the capture lifecycle, and partners with the Lines of Business (LOB), Engineering, Finance, and Senior Leadership to shape winning opportunities across LOB's. The CM Leader will organize and lead activities to shape and influence the trajectory and construct of major acquisitions. Finally, the CM will use their expertise on large programs to address critical customer needs.
Specific Responsibilities :
- Recruit, lead, and develop a team of Capture Managers.
- Set clear performance goals, conduct regular coaching, and drive career progression.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Lead capture efforts in close coordination and collaboration with MSAC leadership.
- Develop and implement win strategies, competitive intelligence portfolios, teaming strategies, customer assessments and all elements of a large capture to maximize probability-of-win.
- Drive development of strategies and objectives with executives in the MSAC and across the LM Enterprise to achieve shaping goals and develop programmatic baselines for development, production and services contracts.
- Deliver customer-centric key messages to build the stakeholder base and drive all keep-sold activities for the family of acquisitions.
- Create detailed capture management plans to ensure on-cost and -schedule and disciplined execution of capture elements.
- Maintain accountability to shape and win new business by delivering competitively discriminating, customer-aligned mission solutions.
- Lead efforts with executives to develop and perform to strategic growth plans that align with LM Space technology roadmaps.
- Work closely with the Government Affairs team to understand external factors, budgetary plans, and Executive and Legislative branch positions and perspectives that may impact or influence a capture effort.
Basic Qualifications :
10+ years of experience in the aerospace and defense industry across military, civil, national?security, and commercial?space customer markets, with a strong preference for prior relevant experience working with government customers in the space sector.Experience leading teams on major capture efforts and programs that span competing interests and equities, successfully building consensus and achieving desired outcomes.Experience cultivating strong internal and external networks and developing high?performing teams to meet objectives.Experience supporting or leading pursuits, captures, and proposals valued at $100M - $2B with a strong record of winning captures and a deep understanding of how to balance customer needs, competitor dynamics, and internal considerations when formulating an offering.Proven ability to lead and manage engagement across multiple functional areas to proactively engage government customers developing trusted relationships to achieve results.Very effective executive-level presentation and communication skills.Ability to travel for business, as needed.Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain & maintain a TS / SCI clearance.Desired Skills :
Industry-applicable B.S. or B.A. degree required; MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.An active TS / SCI clearance or a Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI rapidly is strongly preferred.Strong experience in the Aerospace and Defense Industry in a functional area other than business development is strongly preferred.Experience as a systems thinker with proven ability to bring decision clarity to complex organizations in dynamic environments.Security Clearance Statement : This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
