Product Design Engineer & Mechanical Design Engineer (Mold & Tooling)
We are seeking a Product Design Engineer and a Mechanical Design Engineer (Mold & Tooling) to become part of our team!
Responsibilities
Product Design Engineer :
- Direct communication with our sales team, customers and manufacturing department to develop new bottle designs and / or enhance our current products.
- Compile package requirements such as : volume, fill level, overflow, overall size, height, width, depth, bottle gram weight, neck finish type and label stipulations.
- Identify and qualify performance requirements (e.g., top load and drop test) with the customer. Conduct bottle testing and measurements in our bottle lab, including measuring overall bottle and neck finish dimensions, calculating volume, fill level and overflow, and checking container weight, wall thickness and material distribution using instruments such as an optical comparator, digital height gauge, calipers and Magna Mike.
- Develop fully parametric 2D sketches in SolidWorks 2024; generate 3D computer models and, when applicable, print models on in-house 3D printer. Create scaled cavities applying shrink rates to yield target container dimensions for finished molds.
- Utilize Faro Arm laser scanner with PolyWorks software for reverse engineering.
Mechanical Design Engineer (Mold & Tooling) :
Daily tasks include direct communication with our Sales Team, Customers and Manufacturing.Collaborate with Product Design to develop fully parametric 2D sketches in SolidWorks 2024.Develop 3D mold designs from 2D sketches, including cooling lines / channels to optimize cooling and cycle time for the container shape.Design venting, scrap chambers, neck finish and adapt the mold to the customer blow mold machine platform.Where applicable, design die tooling to optimize wall thickness. Research shrink rates to apply to an Excel-based design table that drives dimensions to yield acceptable neck finishes.Qualifications
5+ years of related experience.Minimum of bachelor's degree in engineering or 7 years' related experience. Degrees : Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Product Design Engineering Technology or Packaging Engineering.5+ years CAD experience (SolidWorks and / or NX) and proficiency in SolidWorks.Equivalent combinations of education and / or experience will be considered.Strong mechanical ability and knowledge of extrusion blow mold equipment.Excellent communication and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.Experience with a Faro Arm Laser scanner & Polyworks is a plus.Compensation is determined based on the applicant's level of experience.
