Overview

Dematic is seeking an Installation Manager with an Electrical emphasis to join Lifecycle Solutions and Services - Modernizations and Upgrades. This role will drive creative problem-solving to enhance programs, processes, practices and initiatives. The position is responsible for full project installation activities, including staffing and planning daily and weekly workload to meet project milestones for less complex and / or smaller projects. The Installation Manager will supervise assigned supervisors, foremen, and crews, and oversee all electrical and mechatronics pre-commissioning projects, project progress, safety, and reporting on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. This role manages the full lifecycle of installation projects—from pre-quoting activities through site visits and concept review meetings to determine costs. Scheduling sub-contractors, tracking equipment inventory and rentals are also key responsibilities.

Base Pay

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $75,000 - $165,000 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with routine equipment trial runs to ensure that it meets specifications and assure equipment is installed to Dematic standards. Provide training assistance to subcontractors in the installation of Dematic and other material handling equipment.
  • Interface with Project Management, Installation Management, Engineering and the customer (at appropriate level) on project issues.
  • Quote projects, including a pricing review meeting, justify installation costs, and select subcontractors in conjunction with Purchasing.
  • Attend weekly project review meetings, track financials, and update subcontractors on a weekly basis.
  • Make site visits to assist with commissioning if needed and enforce safety and quality standards.
  • Complete equipment run-in and report readiness of segments for commissioning via Installation Pre-commissioning Documents.
  • Order all consumables, conduit and wire, equipment rentals and other resources required for project execution.
  • Forecast monthly installation costs and update the installation management tool and PMC tool.
  • Qualifications

  • Typically an Associate's degree or 1-2 years of vocational technical training; HS diploma or equivalent required. Specialized skill training / certification may be required.
  • Five years (minimum) experience in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical equipment. Experience with material handling equipment; service experience with AGVS, AS / RS, or conveyors is highly valued.
  • Willingness to travel on short notice and spend up to 50% of the time traveling.
  • Willingness to be on call and travel accordingly.
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays and off shifts.
  • Ability to write concise, clear, and complete trip reports in the time frame required by Dematic procedures.
  • Proficiency with personal computers for word processing, data base functions and communications; understanding PC hardware setup and software configuration.
