As an Inclusion Aide, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and inclusive environment for students with special needs, ensuring they feel welcomed, valued, and empowered to fully participate in our before and after-school programs. You will provide direct, one-on-one or small-group support, adapting activities and engagement strategies to meet the unique needs of each student.
What a typical day for an Inclusion Aide is like :
- Encourage and facilitate student participation in program activities, ensuring an inclusive and supportive environment.
- Build strong, positive relationships with students, fostering a sense of belonging.
- Implement strategies to support students with diverse learning and behavioral needs.
- Assist students with academic work, including homework help and enrichment activities.
- Follow attendance procedures, ensuring accurate sign-in and sign-out records.
- Collaborate with site staff and leadership to adapt activities to meet students' needs.
- Demonstrate leadership and a commitment to empowering youth.
- Maintain professionalism, patience, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
Background in special education, child development, or youth programs highly preferred.Experience working with children or youth in grades K-12, especially those with special needs.Familiarity with inclusive programming and behavioral support strategies is a plus.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.Ability to supervise and engage students in a group setting.Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in youth education.Ability to communicate well with both kids and parents.College transcripts showing 48+ college credit units completed OR ability to pass an academic proficiency exam.TB test with negative result and Live Scan background check.Spanish-English bilingual skills are a plus.If the school you will be working at requires a Covid-19 vaccination, you must provide documentation showing you are fully vaccinated.
The Inclusion Aide position is part-time, non-exempt. This position reports to the Site Coordinator of the school site.
