Description
The Patient Care Coordinator will providecoordination
of care, continuity, follow-up, and support for the patients and their
families. Responsibilitiesinclude : answering, triaging and responding to
patient phone calls, scheduling clinic appointments, pre and post scrubbing of
clinic appointments, assisting patients with scheduling diagnostic tests,
preparing charts and documents for clinic visits, enter referrals and orders,
coordinate scheduling and management of patient procedures and all follow-up
care, assisting with obtaining insurance pre-certifications and referral
authorizations, referral work queues, process requests for medical records,
process medication refill requests, organize and maintain a computer calendar
system, and assist with processing disability and return-to-work forms and
various letters at patient and provider's request.
Salary Range : $30.36 - $43.49 / Hourly
Qualifications
Required :
Comfortable with changing work
flows.
Skill in prioritizing assignments
to complete work in a timely manner when there are changes in workload and
assignments, pressures of deadlines, and / or a heavy workload.
Demonstrated basic knowledge of
physician office policies and procedures.
Ability to establish and maintain
cooperative and collaborative working relationship with medical, nursing, and
administrative personnel.
Ability to accept ambiguous
circumstances and take action where answers to a problem are not readily
apparent.
Skill in working independently and
following through on assignments with minimal direction.
Knowledge of neurological surgery / orthopedic surgery medical terminology to
communicate effectively with physicians, nurses and other members of the health
care community.
Current knowledge of neurosurgical
diagnosis, treatments, and terminology.
Working knowledge of patient
related policies and procedures, as well as a thorough understanding of the
University system.
Familiarity with physician office
billing procedures.
Verbal and composition skills to
convey detailed medical information.
Working knowledge of PC including
the following software : Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Excel,
Windows.
Knowledge of University forms and
procedures.
Ability to communicate on a one-to-one
basis with persons of various social, economic, and cultural backgrounds to
obtain information and explain procedures.
Ability to perform with frequent
interruptions.
Ability to prioritize workload
when faced with changing deadlines.
Ability to make independent
decisions.
Requires flexibility and
conscientiousness.
Ability to
handle various supervisors and be receptive to an unpredictable work schedule.
Ability to
triage incoming calls with efficiency.
Skill in editing correspondence
and manuscripts for correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Skill in reading medical and
scientific data such as slide preparations, manuscripts, and
publications. Working knowledge of presentation graphic software (Power Point)
to assist in preparation of teaching slides.
