Purpose and Scope
Under direct supervision, this position is responsible for routine lab preparation duties. May be responsible for tracking laboratory equipment and supplies. This position refers problems to experts as needed. Activities involve a variety of routine tasks such as cleaning makerspace, and many non-routine tasks that require independent judgment to resolve issues.
Essential Job Functions
- Supports lab manager and faculty in preparation and delivery of labs
- Assists students with lab equipment such as 3D printers, scroll saw, and soldering irons
- Upholds safety practices in the lab
- Provides routine lab support including all aspects of lab safety, cleaning, and organizing, and inspection and maintenance of lab classrooms including equipment and supplies needed for each class period
- Performs record keeping for any supplies that need to be ordered and replaced
- Works with faculty and students as needed, especially staffing Open Lab periods for student independent work; Ensures proper supplies and safety procedures during this time
- Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

Work Schedule and Conditions
Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment, and 3D printer, scroll saw, soldering irons, and basic shop equipmentInterface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the positionWork is performed in a climate-controlled office and / or laboratory environment with exposure to safety hazards typical in a laboratory (working with glue, paint, solder, 3D printers)Safety protocol must be strictly followed at all times. Keep fans on for proper ventilation, use safety goggles, and properly dispose of batteries and other materials.Work schedule is flexible around student class and work schedule, but priority will be given to staffing at peak demand times for engineering labsRequired Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED and at least 1 year of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experienceCompletion of appropriate college level science courseworkCompensation
Hourly Pay Rate is $13.52
