Purpose and Scope

Under direct supervision, this position is responsible for routine lab preparation duties. May be responsible for tracking laboratory equipment and supplies. This position refers problems to experts as needed. Activities involve a variety of routine tasks such as cleaning makerspace, and many non-routine tasks that require independent judgment to resolve issues.

Essential Job Functions

• Supports lab manager and faculty in preparation and delivery of labs
• Assists students with lab equipment such as 3D printers, scroll saw, and soldering irons
• Upholds safety practices in the lab
• Provides routine lab support including all aspects of lab safety, cleaning, and organizing, and inspection and maintenance of lab classrooms including equipment and supplies needed for each class period
• Performs record keeping for any supplies that need to be ordered and replaced
• Works with faculty and students as needed, especially staffing Open Lab periods for student independent work; Ensures proper supplies and safety procedures during this time
• Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

Physical Abilities

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
