The Granite YMCA is hiring a Head Lifeguard to support the aquatics facility at our YMCA of Concord location. This person will play a key role in leading our staff teams while supporting the needs of our members and ensuring safety in all areas of the pool area.

This position has the flexibility to be part-time or full-time, depending upon the candidate’s availability. Opportunity for advancement for interested candidates as we promote from within : nearly all of our Coordinators, Assistant Director and Directors started out as Lifeguards.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of lifeguarding experience and currently holds a Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard certification. The YMCA of Concord has a year-round indoor 4 lane lap pool offering open swim, swim lessons, and general aquatics programming throughout the year.

Responsibilities :

• Supervise Aquatics staff in the absence of the Aquatics Director or Coordinator
• Understand emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations in the pool area
• Maintain effective, positive relationships with members, participants and other team members
• Understand and consistently apply safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool area. Take responsibility for implementing and supporting change of policies / procedures
• Maintain accurate pool records as required by the YMCA and state / local Health Department code
• Perform equipment checks and ensure appropriate equipment is available as needed; this includes rescue equipment and well stocked hip packs and first aid kits
