ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs the installation, maintenance and testing programs for the organization and member cooperatives' protection systems, meters, or communication systems.
• Ensures compliance with organization’s prescribed System Maintenance, Reliability, and Testing Program and all areas of NERC Compliance and recordkeeping.
• Reads substation data, collects and logs data, visually inspects equipment at each substation and reports problems.
• Maintains and uses test equipment and tools used for construction, operations, and maintenance of protection system maintenance, meters, and communications equipment.
• Performs with the inspection, installation, use and maintenance of mobile substations located within a district or region.
• Instructs and trains technician helpers on technical, operational and safety standards.
• Participates in safety meetings on a monthly basis, including technical topics.
• Advises other personnel and member cooperative's personnel, upon request, of facts relating to this area of responsibility and assists them in in the performance of their duties in times of need.
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision on assigned projects, including logging and maintaining documents suitable for NERC compliance.
• Successful completion of prescribed NLC course lessons in Power Delivery Department training program or other prescribed training program as required.
• Performs directed switching with written switching orders.
• The ability to handle stress and work well with others are essential functions of this position.
• Participates on Safety Advantage Program.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Performs inspection of substations and transmission lines during prescribed inspection intervals.
• Due to our obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to our customers, the ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance and the ability to work. outside your regularly scheduled office hours when necessary is an essential function of the job.

Minimum Qualifications

Tech I -

2 years related experience and / or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

5 years related experience and / or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
