The primary goal of this position is to successfully implement assigned projects while applying technical competence in engineering disciplines that focus on environmental, health, and safety EHS, quality, risk management, cost, and schedule. This role provides effective project management and technical support to improve operational efficiency, asset availability, and capital expenditure. This position supports the Production (Casting, Plate, Hot Line, and Coil) units within the facility.

Responsibilities

  • This role will be required to lead and / or support multiple projects as well as provide periodic department and plant support.
  • Oversee the management of project budgets, schedules, and resources, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction in the analysis and resolution of complex project challenges
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring clear and effective communication.
  • Lead the development and approval of capital expenditure proposals for assigned projects
  • Manage and oversee relevant contractor and vendor relationships, ensuring compliance and performance
  • Support construction management during field activities.
  • Periodic discipline specific guidance and support for plant maintenance and operations
  • Support of engineering system maintenance, advancement and improvement initiatives
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an ABET-accredited program, required
  • 5 years relevant experience, preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and / or work collaboratively within a team environment required
  • Willingness to learn project management, quality, and lean methodologies and techniques, required
  • Ability to adapt to a new industrial environment, required
  • Effective communication (both written and verbal) with the ability to adapt communication styles to different audiences, preferred
  • Effective time management with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, required
  • Must be well organized and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, required
  • Relevant certification CAPM, PMP or equiv. preferred

    • Dimensions

  • This role will be located in Ravenswood, within the Central Engineering group and support the Production (Casting, Plate, Hot Line, and Coil) units within the facility.
  • Lead large-scale projects with significant budgets that could range from less than $1M to greater than $50M, affecting strategic initiatives and organizational performance.
  • Requires strategic thinking and innovation; develops strategic guidelines and solutions for complex, undefined problems.
  • Aligning projects with strategic goals, managing high-risk projects, influencing stakeholders, and driving innovation.

    • Department personnel including Project Managers / Engineers, Designers, Cost Manager

  • In-depth understanding of engineering principles and safety protocols with a firm understanding of AC and DC control (PLC) systems
  • In-depth Understanding of electrical distribution systems including low, medium, and high voltages
  • Basic Understanding of hydraulic / pneumatic systems, and CMMS utilization
  • Basic knowledge of complex data collection acquisition systems and requirements
  • General knowledge of discipline and industry standards including relevant NPFA, IEC, IEE, etc
  • Understanding of machinery specifications and procedures
