Med / Surg RN Job Details

Location : Powell, Tennessee (37849) – near Knoxville

Healthcare Setting : Medical-Surgical (Med / Surg) Unit

Employment Type : Travel Nursing Contract

Start Date : November 10, 2025

Assignment Length : 13 weeks

Shift : 12-hour night shifts (3 shifts / week)

Hours per Week : 36

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1610–$1730

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license – Tennessee or compact state

BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification – required before first shift

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Certification – required before first shift

Minimum 1 year of recent clinical experience in a Med / Surg nursing role

Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive assessments of patients’ physical, emotional, and functional needs in a medical-surgical setting

Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans for Med / Surg patients

Supervise and mentor LPNs, CNAs, and new staff on the unit

Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments per hospital protocols

Provide wound care, ventilator management, and respond to medical emergencies

Accurately document all nursing care, interventions, and patient education in the EMR

Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and quality improvement initiatives

Maintain patient and environmental safety, following infection control and hospital policies

Deliver compassionate education and support to patients and their families
