Job Summary and Qualifications
The Occupational Therapist Assistant evaluates and treats patients, communicates with families, physicians, and other health care members and maintains documentation of services in the medical record under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist. Assumes, under the direction of the occupational therapist, responsibility for patient care, quality control, quality improvement, and equipment maintenance. Develops effective treatment plans, identifies and assesses the patient's need for special equipment, maintains up to date documentation, conducts tests and measurements of the neuromuscular skeletal system, communicates effectively with patients, peers, and other disciplines regarding patient care issues, develops, organizes and participates in departmental, hospital and community in-services, and communicates effectively with patient's physician and nurse regarding patient's status in therapy programs.
What qualifications you will need : Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of Texas, a minimum of an Associate Degree from an accredited OTA program required, a minimum of 1-2 years experience in an acute care setting preferred, and must be able to work a minimum of 2 weekend days a month.
