JOB OVERVIEW :
We are seeking an experienced and driven Engineering Manager to lead our multidisciplinary engineering team at a custom automation integration company based in Wyoming, Michigan. This role will oversee the mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering functions, ensuring the successful design, development, and execution of innovative automation solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in industrial automation and robotics, as well as proven leadership and project management skills.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering (or related field) required.
- 7+ years of engineering experience in industrial automation, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience working at an automation integrator or custom machine builder.
- Familiarity with UL, CE, and NFPA standards.
- PMP certification or formal project management training is a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Strong knowledge of custom machinery, industrial robotics, motion control, and PLC / HMI programming.Experience managing engineering projects from concept to commissioning.Proficient in engineering software tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Rockwell Studio 5000).Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.RESPONSIBILITIES :
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers.Oversee all phases of the engineering process, from concept development through system commissioning.Collaborate with sales, project management, and production teams to define project scope, schedules, and deliverables.Ensure engineering output meets technical standards, project requirements, and customer expectations.Review and approve engineering documentation, including drawings, BOMs, and schematics.Drive continuous improvement initiatives in engineering workflows, tools, and design practices.Allocate engineering resources to projects based on timelines and priorities.Interface with customers during design reviews, technical discussions, and on-site support as needed.Support recruitment, training, and performance management within the engineering department.Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and internal quality procedures.Excellent benefits include medical with a standard PPO plan with deductibles as low as $1,500 and wellness credit up to $750; voluntary 401k plan with company match up to 12%; voluntary dental and vision plans; free telemedicine services; basic life and short-term disability coverage.EOE M / F / D / V
