We're looking for a proactive and experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead our safety initiatives and ensure a safe, compliant, and healthy work environment. This role is critical to maintaining our commitment to employee well-being and regulatory excellence. You'll oversee all aspects of safety—from OSHA compliance and training to incident investigation and budget management.
Penbryn is part of JM's insulation business = the largest of three businesses at JM. JM first opened the Penbryn plant in 1963 and continued to make significant investments in the facility over the next 40 years. The plant is currently at 200+ employees operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week manufacturing a variety of fiberglass building insulation products on a single HERM line and continue to serve as a distribution hub for JM operations along the East Coast.
Your Day to Day :
- Lead Safety Programs : Develop, implement, and continuously improve regulatory and company safety programs (OSHA, NFPA, ANSI).
- Policy Management : Create, review, and enforce plant safety policies and procedures.
- Training Oversight : Assign, track, and report on all regulatory and safety training across the facility.
- Workers Compensation : Manage cases including doctor visits, light duty assignments, reporting, and financial forecasting.
- Hazard Identification : Train employees, conduct audits, develop corrective actions, and monitor progress.
- Budget Control : Oversee the health & safety budget including PPE, supplies, and first aid resources.
- Reporting : Prepare and present weekly / monthly safety performance reports.
- Incident Response : Serve as Medical First Responder and lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and case management.
- Change Management : Conduct safety reviews for Management of Change (MOC) processes.
- Other Duties : Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support safety and compliance.
What You Bring to the Team :
Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of safety leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.Strong knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, NFPA standards , and Workers Compensation lawsProven experience in hazard recognition incident investigation , and case managementCertified in First Aid, AED, and CPRExcellent leadership communication , and problem-solving skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Ability to work independently and collaboratively with plant leadership.Willingness to travel occasionally (up to 10 days / year).Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varied plant conditions (heat, cold, noise, heights, etc.).Why Join Us?
