This position is eligible for a $2,000 hiring bonus. Essential functions include monitoring patient behaviors while providing support and nursing interventions, encouraging appropriate behaviors that enhance participation in recovery, acting as a patient advocate, and assisting patients with daily planning. The role also requires documenting patient progress during hospitalization, participating in shift change reports and team meetings, assisting nurses with milieu management and work environment safety, utilizing de-escalation interventions as necessary, taking on-call on a rotation basis, floating to other units as necessary, and serving as a mentor to new Human Services Aides and Human Services Specialists.
Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and management of aggressive behaviors, ethics and maintaining professional boundaries, using a computer and Microsoft Office applications, and emergency procedures such as CPR, First Aide, and RACE are required. Knowledge of standard infection control practices is also necessary.
Physical working conditions include the ability to perform CPR, First Aide, Crisis Management, and utilize proper infection control and defensive driving practices. The role also requires the ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds or one-quarter of one's body weight with assistance.
