We are seeking a Wireless CAD Supervisor who plays a critical role and is responsible for coordinating with various engineering and project management teams to produce high-quality, ready-to-construct wireless site designs. This position plays a key role in fulfilling in-house drafting needs and ensuring all designs comply with applicable standards and jurisdictional requirements. The Wireless CAD Supervisor also contributes to workflow process improvements and mentors junior team members.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert Computer Aided Design (CAD) support and comprehensive documentation of architectural and engineering activities using AutoCAD software.
  • Create or modify detailed drawings, layouts, sketches, maps, and graphic representations of architectural and engineering designs with diligence and quality at a rapid pace.
  • Prepare engineering drawing packages of moderate and high complexity for the design and construction of new and existing communication sites based on existing drawings, site audits, photos, and redlined documents.
  • Ensure drawings and calculations comply with applicable standards and jurisdictional requirements as outlined by a project manager or client.
  • Ensure adequate equipment specifications are available and verified by those responsible for design approval.
  • Review and perform initial corrections on own work prior to project manager's review to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Review the work of company drafting personnel to ensure accuracy and adherence to design standards.
  • Coordinate with the Engineering Manager and Project Managers to effectively manage workloads and ensure project timelines are met.
  • Communicate effectively, timely, and respectfully via phone, email, and face-to-face to gather information, promote clarification, and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Participate actively in company progress meetings to provide updates and gather necessary information.
  • Communicate potential requirements, request pertinent site information, and raise awareness of unexpected challenges of proposed wireless site designs to the Engineering Manager, Project Managers, and other relevant team members.
  • Utilize site information provided by project managers as well as information found through online jurisdictional data tools and mapping resources.
  • Maintain accurate project trackers as necessary.
  • Provide feedback and assist in the modification of workflow processes, team tools, and templates to drive efficiency and quality.
  • Mentor and train new team members, contributing to the overall skill development of the design team.
  • Support departmental goals through additional contributions as needed.
  • Individuals in this role receive privileged access and are assigned specialized training at least once a year.
  • Ensure confidentiality of company information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of professional experience with a strong emphasis on wireless telecommunications and commercial projects.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Design, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), or a closely related technical field preferred.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., AutoCAD Certified User / Professional, Certified Drafter) preferred.
  • Knowledge of specific telecom carrier design standards and processes preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of design techniques, drafting standards (e.g., ANSI, ASME), and industry best practices for producing technical plans, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
  • Expert proficiency in AutoCAD with a specialized focus on wireless industry standards and complex tower / site designs.
  • Experience with other relevant design software such as Revit, MicroStation, or 3D modeling tools.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and working with civil, structural, architectural, and electrical drawings related to wireless infrastructure.
  • Experience in a lead or senior designer role, providing technical guidance or mentorship to junior drafters preferred.
  • Familiarity with telecommunications infrastructure components and installation methodologies preferred.
  • Proven ability to prepare complex engineering drawing packages based on site audits, photos, redlined documents, and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify design challenges and propose effective solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information effectively and provide clear feedback on design work.
  • Ability to work independently as a self-motivated and directed individual, while also collaborating effectively as part of a project team.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple design tasks and prioritize work efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Shift is full-time Monday – Friday between the hours of 8 : 00 am – 5 : 00 pm MST. Must be flexible and willing to work outside normal business hours as necessary.
