Staff Accountant
MGP Ingredients is a leading supplier of premium distilled spirits and food ingredient solutions. Its Distilling Solutions segment provides bourbons, whiskeys, ryes, gins, and vodkas to craft and multinational brands. MGP's own Branded Spirits business is growing following the 2021 acquisition of Luxco, a top spirits producer, bottler, supplier, and importer as well as the 2023 acquisition of Penelope Bourbon, known for its wide range of uniquely blended expressions. Ingredient Solutions delivers nutritional, functional wheat- and pea-based ingredients aligned with consumer trends. The company operates in locations across the Midwestern U.S., and overseas in Northern Ireland and Mexico.
THE OPPORTUNITY :
This person will be managing accounts receivable including downloading and coding payments, problem solving, collections and all reporting. As well as managing accounts payable and invoice processing to maintain relationships with vendors through timely payments. They will assist in banking functions including downloading payments, reconciling bank accounts and daily reports as needed. This person will allow the accounting team to provide exceptional client service to internal and external stakeholders.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING :
AR / Collections
Apply all cash deposits and credit memos to the appropriate customers' accounts.
Monitor A / R aging reports for collection priorities.
Initiate paperwork for credit memos for customer deductions.
Work with customer service and sales to keep accounts receivable accurate as needed to address collection issues.
Monitor and match up prepaid customers with deposits made weekly in SAP.
Scan and save daily bank reports and positive pay from Wells Fargo to company shared drive. Customer Care / Credit Management
Respond to requests for credit information pertaining to our customers.
Participate in regular meetings with treasury management team to identify accounts from the aging analysis.
Accounts Payable Coordinator
Process vendor invoices against purchase order receipts with 3-way match.
Process misc vendor invoices by coding directly to g / l account.
Troubleshoot and resolve invoice / PO issues pricing issues through communication both internally and externally.
Daily interaction with personnel from all areas of the company.
Review monthly statements from vendors to ensure accuracy of financial statements.
Audit Requests
Work with outside auditors and bank auditors on related PBC items and requests.
Prepare information for the compiling of Misc 1099 filings for eligible vendors.
Month-End
Assist Senior Accountant with month end and quarter end general ledger account reconciliations.
Perform special projects as requested.
Prepare and manage the regulatory reporting for commercial feed tonnage, alcohol and feed license renewals as well as many other reports that are managed on the tax calendar.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR :
College degree in Accounting or Business (can be substituted for real-life experience though!)
High School Diploma with 3-5 years or more experience
Attention to detail and organizational skills are very important
Problem solving skills are necessary to help resolve collection issues.
Accounts Receivable / Collections experience preferred.
Proficient in Excel and Word. Communication skills both oral and written are needed in working with sales, customer service and customers.
