Overview

Promotes the well-being of children in the Foster Care / Kinship Program, participates in staff meetings and trainings and coordinates with staff from other agencies involved in providing foster care services. Manages a caseload of Families seeking to become Kinship Foster Homes.

Responsibilities

  • Manages recruitment activities and coordination with other foster care / kinship staff and agencies.
  • Assists with application and inquiry processing to engage families quickly in training.
  • Plans, arranges, and oversees foster home / kinship trainings for new homes.
  • Monitors and assesses homes for initial verification.
  • Assists in the orientation, assessment, and verification of foster / kinship parents.
  • Attends case planning conferences at required intervals.
  • Conducts foster home / kinship visits.
  • Provides 24 hour on-call support to foster / kinship parents and crisis intervention when required.
  • Coordinates community resources for the benefit of children served by the Foster Care / kinship Program.
  • Facilitates placement of children in properly trained and licensed homes.
  • Coordinates with intake and other staff on the placement of children.
  • Completes documentation and forwards reports with descriptive, analytical, and evaluative content.
  • Coordinates with the Agency's licensing staff to ensure regulatory compliance by care providers and reviews licensing standards with care providers.
  • Collaborates with Agency program staff and external public / private agencies on service delivery to children and families.
  • May drive personal or agency vehicles while transporting children or conducting agency business; must possess a valid driver's license and meet agency underwriting standards for driving or transporting clients.
  • Refrains from assuming duties outside the scope of the position.
  • Advocates for cultural sensitivity and responsiveness in day-to-day interactions.
  • Develops and promotes teamwork in all activities.

Qualifications

Master's or bachelor's degree in Social Work preferred. Candidates must meet one of the following options :

Option 1

  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university in social work or other human services field
  • Nine graduate credit hours focusing on family and individual function and interaction
  • One year of documented full-time work experience in a child-placing agency conducting child-placing activities (up to 350 hours of supervised field placement / practicum allowed)
  • Option 2

  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Nine graduate credit hours focusing on family and individual function and interaction
  • Two years of documented full-time work experience in a child-placing agency conducting child-placing activities (up to 350 hours of supervised field placement / practicum allowed)
  • Option 3

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work or other human services field
  • Nine undergraduate credit hours focusing on family and individual function and interaction
  • Two years of documented full-time work experience in a child-placing agency conducting child-placing activities (up to 350 hours of supervised field placement / practicum allowed)
  • Option 4

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Nine undergraduate credit hours focusing on family and individual function and interaction
  • Three years of documented full-time work experience in a child-placing agency conducting child-placing activities, or direct supervision from child placement management staff (10 monthly, face-to-face, case-related conferences per year) until totals reach three years of experience
