Summary
Under the direction of, and in collaboration with unit management, performs responsibilities exercising initiative, judgment and independent decision-making within the scope of the State Nurse Practice Act, hospital policy and other governing organizations. Utilizes the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation) in a systematic approach to the direct and indirect care of patients and their families.
Job Duties
- Provide quality care in multiple settings : Pediatrics, Medical, Surgical (inpatient / outpatient), Emergency, Senior Care, Nursery, Chemotherapy and Ambulance Transport as needed / delegated.
- Maintains certifications in all areas within scope of practice
- Supervision of LPNs, Nursing Assistants and Health Unit Coordinators as needed.
- Effectively utilize nursing process : Demonstrates effective interviewing and assessment skills and integrates new or current techniques to obtain physical / psycho-social information from the patient / family to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care through the nursing process. Initiates and maintains patient care plan to reflect current patient needs utilizing computerized documentation.
- Customer Service : Respects the privacy and dignity of every customer, internal or external. Is courteous and friendly, uses a quiet, respectful tone of voice when speaking with customers. Follows hospital policies regarding confidential or sensitive information; is Sensitive to cultural differences.
- Initiative : Completes duties assigned without hesitation and in a timely manner; accepts direction well, is highly productive; works independently as position requires; accepts constructive criticism; demonstrates good time management skills; demonstrates a willingness to train new staff.

Identifies needs, instructs others, and actively supports the role of patient advocate / liaison by communication and documentation of patient information to the proper resources / agencies. Proper computerized documentation will be maintained at all times. This includes, but not limited to admission, discharge, medication administration, teaching, activities of daily living and accurate intake / output.
Required Education and Experience
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Minnesota.Must successfully complete criminal background check as required by the State of Minnesota.Certifications : Basic Life Support.Knowledge of nursing principles, policies, procedures and medical ethics equivalent to years of experience.Excellent communication skills across disciplines and at various levels.Ability to work in a team setting.Possession of attention to detail, organization and prioritization skills.Computer skills including Word.Preferred Education and Experience
