Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

Micron is seeking an experienced Wet System Mechanical Engineer to oversee the third-party design of wet mechanical systems, including plumbing, HVAC hydronic systems, and process piping for water-based systems, for high-tech large-scale construction projects. The Wet Mechanical Engineer will manage external design firms, ensuring that wet mechanical systems meet stringent project specifications, performance standards, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with external firms to build wet mechanical systems, including plumbing and HVAC water-based systems.
  • Review and validate third-party development work, such as piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment specifications, and system layouts, ensuring compliance with project requirements and standards (e.g., ASME B31.1, UPC, IPC).
  • Conduct technical evaluations of third-party compositions, verifying performance metrics such as flow rates, pressure, thermal efficiency, and system reliability.
  • Work together with external design teams, contractors, vendors, and internal collaborators to align wet mechanical system compositions with facility needs and project timelines.
  • Perform quality assurance and risk assessments on third-party constructions, identifying and resolving issues related to constructability, efficiency, or compliance with building codes and laws.
  • Ensure third-party builds integrate seamlessly with other facility systems, such as Ultra-Pure Water (UPW), chemical systems, or gas systems, using Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools for coordination.
  • Coordinate the execution of safety and regulatory protocols for wet mechanical systems, ensuring alignment to OSHA, EPA, and local laws (e.g., Idaho State Plumbing Code, International Mechanical Code).
  • Support commissioning and testing phases by reviewing third-party development performance and coordinating with vendors for equipment validation and system startup.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field. Advanced certifications (e.g., PE, LEED AP, CPD) are a plus.
  • 3-5 years experience in wet mechanical engineering, including 2 years coordinating third-party design or managing design for plumbing, HVAC hydronic, or process piping systems.
  • Proficient understanding of wet mechanical system development, encompassing plumbing, HVAC hydronic systems (chilled / hot water), and process piping for water-based applications in industrial or high-tech facilities.
  • Understanding of industry norms and guidelines, including ASME B31.1, Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), International Mechanical Code (IPC), and ASHRAE standards.
  • Proficiency in reviewing engineering work, including P&IDs, 3D models, and specifications, using tools like AutoCAD, Revit, or Navisworks.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating third-party designs for semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or data center facilities with strict wet mechanical system requirements.
  • Knowledge of balanced development practices, such as water conservation, energy-efficient hydronic systems, or greywater recycling.
  • Familiarity with clash detection and build integration processes using BIM tools.
  • Experience in facilities system modeling and analysis to include PSA (Pipe Stress Analysis) and system hydraulics using PipeFlo.
  • Ability to mentor internal teams or collaborate effectively with external collaborators to ensure build alignment.
  • Micron is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, national origin, citizenship status, disability, protected veteran status, gender identity or any other factor protected by applicable federal, state, or local laws.
