We are looking for a Temporary Occupational Therapist to Join Our Team at Memorial Hospital – A 5-Star Community Hospital!
Memorial Hospital in Chester, Illinois, is a nationally recognized 5-Star Critical Access Hospital, committed to delivering exceptional care to our patients and fostering a supportive work environment for our team. We’re currently seeking a qualified and compassionate OT to assist us during a 2 week leave in November.
Earn EXCELLENT pay right before Christmas! Hours can be flexible to meet the needs of the patients. Most patients will be out-patient and in-patients with the potential to work in long-term care as well.
Qualifications
Master’s or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
Current state license (or eligibility) to practice as an Occupational Therapist.
NBCOT certification required.
CPR / BLS certification required.
Experience in outpatient rehab, inpatient acute care, or long-term / skilled nursing facilities preferred (depending on posting).
Strong communication and documentation skills; ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
Vaccination requirements consistent with healthcare postings :
Proof of immunization or immunity to MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B .
Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis) up to date.
Annual influenza vaccination .
COVID-19 vaccination (per employer / CDC guidance).
Tuberculosis screening per facility policy.
Core Responsibilities
General (all settings) :
Evaluate and assess patients’ functional abilities, needs, and goals.
Develop individualized treatment plans to improve mobility, independence, and quality of life.
Educate patients and caregivers on therapy techniques, home programs, and adaptive strategies.
Document care according to regulatory and facility standards (e.g., CMS, Joint Commission).
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, PTs, and other healthcare team members.
Out-Patient Setting :
Provide therapy for patients recovering from injuries, surgeries, or chronic conditions.
Focus on upper extremity rehab, fine motor skills, work reconditioning, and return-to-activity plans.
Engage in patient / family education and home exercise programs.
In-Patient / Acute Care Setting :
Assess and treat patients post-surgery, trauma, or acute illness.
Emphasize self-care skills (ADLs), transfers, cognitive retraining, and discharge readiness.
Work closely with case managers for safe transition of care.
Long-Term Care / Skilled Nursing Facility :
Provide restorative and maintenance therapy for elderly or chronically ill residents.
Focus on maximizing independence in daily activities and preventing functional decline.
Train staff / caregivers in safe mobility, positioning, and adaptive equipment use.
Participate in care planning and family meetings.
Compensation and Benefits :
Retirement Plan : Can contribute to Hospital Retirement Plan.
ILP : Paid Leave hours earned per hour worked .025 / hr up to 40 hours in a year.
Pay : $38.00 - $65.00 / hour (based on Temporary PRN position and Experience)
