Job Summary :

The Environmental Fate Research Associate will conduct and support laboratory research focused on understanding the environmental behavior of crop protection actives. This role involves preparing and analyzing environmental samples, utilizing laboratory automation, and working with radioactive materials under established safety protocols. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with team members to deliver accurate and timely results while maintaining compliance with laboratory safety and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Conduct and support environmental fate research, including experiment setup using environmental samples such as soil, extraction of small molecule crop protection actives, sample cleanup, and liquid chromatography analysis
  • Operate and maintain laboratory automation equipment such as automated liquid handlers and solids dispensers for high-throughput (HTP) assays
  • Conduct environmental fate experiments utilizing carbon-14 radioactive isotope materials and associated instrumentation for radioactive residue measurement
  • Support the development and optimization of novel environmental fate assays under the direction of subject matter experts (SMEs)
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient project execution and timely delivery of research results
  • Maintain organization, cleanliness, and compliance within the laboratory environment, including management of waste streams
  • Adhere to all laboratory safety procedures, including compliance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations for handling radioactive materials

Required Skills :

  • Minimum of a high school diploma; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, or a related field preferred
  • Basic understanding of bench chemistry techniques and standard laboratory equipment usage
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in computer systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Commitment to following all safety procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Comfort and willingness to work with carbon-14 radioactive materials
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a collaborative, team-based environment
  • Education :

    High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
