The State Board of Equalization (BOE) is seeking an experienced communications leader to serve as Chief Communications Officer (CEA Level B). This executive role directs internal and external communications, builds public confidence in California’s property tax system and advises the Executive Management Team on sensitive issues.
Responsibilities
- Lead internal and external communications strategies to ensure transparency and public confidence.
- Develop and implement statewide communication plans across media, public affairs and digital engagement.
- Oversee media relations, serve as official spokesperson and prepare talking points.
- Advise senior leadership on high‑profile, time‑critical issues affecting taxpayers and local governments.
- Foster internal communications that support organizational priorities and increase employee engagement.
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience delivering complex information in a clear, concise, and professional manner through verbal and written communication.Experience advising on sensitive political issues and working in a political environment.Experience leading media relations and serving as an official spokesperson for an organization.Knowledge of California State Government structure and public policy matters.Benefits
