Overview

The Department of English at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge invites applications for a tenure-track position in Rhetoric and Writing at the level of assistant professor to begin August 2026. This is a full-time, nine-month position in the Department of English. The position requires commitments to research, teaching, and service.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in rhetoric and writing at undergraduate and graduate levels, including courses such as ENGL 2300 - Interpreting Discourse, ENGL 3002 - Technical Writing, ENGL 3300 - Rhetoric : Texts and Historical Texts, ENGL 3301 - Writing : Practice, Pedagogy and History, ENGL 4300 - Studies in Rhetorical Theory, ENGL 4301 - Studies in Composition Theory.
• Contribute to related areas of expertise as appropriate, such as technical and professional writing, digital media, writing and technology, or women’s and gender studies, among other sub-fields of interest.
• Engage in scholarly research and publish actively to maintain an active profile appropriate for a Research 1 institution; develop and implement a research agenda with support from the College for faculty development.
• Engage in service responsibilities and participate on graduate student committees as applicable.
