Purpose of Position : This role oversees the daily operations of the production floor, ensuring products are built to exacting standards. This role balances people leadership, production planning, and continuous improvement to deliver quality products on time and within budget. The supervisor develops technicians, coordinates with engineering and supply chain teams, and drives a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Direct, coach, and develop a team of electro-mechanical assemblers, technicians, and leads.
- Plan daily work assignments, set priorities, and adjust staffing to meet production schedules.
- Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and accountability.
- Ensure daily / weekly production goals are met for assemblies and sub-systems.
- Partner with engineering to transition new products into production (NPI).
- Monitor WIP, resolve bottlenecks, and maintain balanced workflow across stations.
- Enforce quality standards, practices (IPC, aerospace / DoD standards), and documentation accuracy.
- Lead root cause investigations for defects, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure compliance with ESD, cleanroom, and defense export control requirements (ITAR / EAR).
- Apply lean manufacturing, 5S, and visual management practices to improve efficiency.
- Drive initiatives for waste reduction, improved yields, and cycle time reduction.
- Collaborate with supply chain on material availability and cost reduction opportunities.
- Track KPIs such as output, quality yield, labor efficiency, and on-time delivery.
- Provide daily / weekly reports to Operations and Engineering leadership.
- Use data to identify trends and proactively recommend improvements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education And Experience Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field; or equivalent work experience.5 years of experience in electro-mechanical assembly or aerospace / defense manufacturing.2 years in a lead or supervisory role overseeing production staff.Knowledge of gimbal systems, servo motors, sensors, or precision electro-mechanical products preferred.Strong working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and ERP / MRP systems.Physical Demands
