We are looking for a technical and adaptable Automation Technician to join our team and our thriving workplace culture.
Job Summary :
As an Automation Technician, you will be responsible for installation, service, and support for material handling automation equipment including dimensioning and weighing systems, automatic barcode scanners, automatic label print and apply systems, conveying equipment, automation controls, and Cubiscan systems at a level which satisfies the high-quality standards of Cubiscan and our customers.
Key Responsibilities :
Perform installations, integrations, troubleshooting, and support for Cubiscan products, 3rd party products, including, laser-based dimensioning and automatic barcode scanning hardware, in-motion and static weighing products, automatic barcode scanning, automatic labeling equipment, PLC and PC controls.
Remote support via phone calls, VoIP, emails and chat sessions.
Diagnose, trouble-shoot, and resolve product hardware and software problems.
Analyze mechanical drawings, diagrams, schematics, and documentation as part of the diagnostic process.
Component assembly / testing.
Ability to read, interpret and understand control box wiring.
Documentation of projects including physical layout and electrical schematic drawings.
Record and track customer support incidents, prepare notes and generate service orders.
Perform installation services, preventative maintenance and ongoing service work.
Train customers on equipment and best practices at their sites.
Flexibility to travel onsite (outside of Utah) for onsite resolution + / - 50% travel, for up to a week at a time.
Infrequent weekend travel / work may apply.
Responsible for tracking / reporting all reimbursable and billable expenses.
Performs other duties as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum of 1 year certificate in accredited automation or electronics technology program preferred.
Basic knowledge of PLC installation / programming.
Basic knowledge of electronics and wiring schematics required.
Ability to use oscilloscope, meters and other electronic equipment.
Basic soldering skills required.
Mechanical aptitude preferred.
Must be physically able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must have color vision to identify cables and wires.
Must demonstrate the ability to comprehend schematics, logic drawings, wire lists and mechanical prints.
Moderate computer skills required to configure and troubleshoot automation systems.
Moderate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite for job related reports.
Ability to perform multiple tasks while keeping organized, focusing on priorities and being productive.
Dependable, adaptable and teachable.
Self-motivated, positive attitude, good interpersonal skills, ability to work independently after training.
Professional appearance and personal grooming standards.
Professional conduct and ability to communicate clearly with other technicians and engineers.
