Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical Oncology

Facility : Methodist University Hospital

Location : 1265 Union Ave, Memphis, TN 38104

Start Date : October 20, 2025 (Other start dates : November 3, November 17)

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : Night Shift (7 : 00 PM – 7 : 00 AM)

Schedule : 3x12-hour shifts / week

Number of Positions : 2

Position Overview

Methodist University Hospital is seeking experienced Registered Nurses for the Medical Surgical Oncology unit. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of oncology med-surg nursing experience, with travel experience required. This Level I Trauma Center is a large hospital setting that recently implemented team nursing with patient ratios of approximately 1 : 6 / 7 on nights. Candidates must live at least 100 miles from the facility, as locals are not accepted.

Certifications & Requirements

  • RN License : Active Tennessee RN license or compact license – Required
  • Experience : Minimum 2 years Medical Surgical Oncology experience (strict requirement)
  • Travel Experience : Required; at least 1 completed travel assignment preferred
  • Education : ADN accepted; BSN not required
  • Certifications : BLS required (renewal plans must be included if expiring)
  • Charting System : Cerner preferred

  • Skilled in Medical Surgical Oncology patient care
  • Ability to manage patient ratios of 1 : 6 / 7 with team nursing
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Adaptability to schedule changes and floating as needed
  • Effective communication and teamwork in a fast-paced environment
