A Neurology Physician provides specialized office-based services to adults and adolescents, managing conditions such as migraines, Parkinson's disease, and epilepsy. This role involves patient education, diagnostic test ordering, and referrals to other specialists, typically working in a rural hospital setting with a flexible schedule. Candidates are preferred to have 2-5 years of experience in general neurology, with specific skills in NCS / EMG and EEG interpretations preferred.

Coverage Needed

  • As soon as credentialed - ongoing
  • 6-12 months +
  • Cover 3 locations

Schedule

  • Possible option for 3 weeks a month
  • 3-4 days a week at 1st facility
  • 1-2 day per week at 2nd facility and / or 3rd facility
  • Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm (one hour scheduled lunch 12-1)

    • Clinical Details

  • Provides office-based general neurology services to new and established patients (mostly adults and adolescents) including medication management, education and counseling of patients and families, ordering diagnostic tests, referral to related other specialties (e.g., cardiology, orthopedics, pain management, pulmonology, sleep medicine) locally, referral to subspecialty neurologists at tertiary care centers, and communication with PCP's
  • Most commonly diagnoses encountered are : Migraine, Memory loss, Essential tremor, Parkinson's disease, Cognitive impairment, Dizziness, Epilepsy, Multiple sclerosis, Polyneuropathy, Headache
  • Must be comfortable with rural nature of practice / hospital, would be solo coverage, and facility's complement of specialists and diagnostic testing capacity
  • Appointment durations would begin at 40-60 minutes to allow for orientation to facility and its EMR. At an appropriate time (usually 2-4 weeks), appointment durations would be reduced to match standards for facility neurologists, i.e., 20 minutes for established patients and 60 minutes for new patients
  • Typical productivity (based on usual mix of new and established patients) will be 12 to 16 patients per day, In general, 2 to 4 new patients per day

    • Requirements

  • Prefer candidates have prior experience (at least 2-5 years) in broad spectrum of general neurology
  • Selected new graduates from residency or fellowship training may be eligible
  • Prior experience in a small hospital or CAH desired
  • Ability to perform and interpret NCS / EMG studies
  • Ability to interpret EEG studies & perform Botox injections - Highly Preferred
  • Active NH License
