THE POSITION

The Department of Revenue is looking for an experienced tax professional to join our team at the Bureau of Enforcement and Taxpayer Assistance (BETA). As a Field Enforcement Agent 1, you will have the opportunity to utilize your unique skill set to conduct investigations of businesses and individuals suspected of violating motor and alternative fuels taxes, business taxes, as well as cigarette and other tobacco taxes. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Field Enforcement Agent 1, you will be observing and assisting experienced agents in the field to gain technical experience and skills in order to conduct criminal and tax investigations of businesses and individuals. Work involves learning collection techniques and procedures such as the explanation of tax rules, regulations, reporting requirements, remittance obligations, and penalties for non-compliance. You will be required to enforce compliance of tax laws and regulations for all taxes administered under BETA through the collection of delinquent taxes and missing returns. In this role, you will also have the opportunity to participate in field activities as part of canvassing to determine if unregistered businesses are operating without appropriate licenses as well as participate in taxpayer education via the New Registration Outreach.
