Job Title : Pipe Shop Operator

Department : Industrial Welding

Location : Baker Manufacturing Company, LLC – Evansville, WI

Reports To : Welding Supervisor

Pipe Shop Operator Position Summary :

The Pipe Shop Operator is a key support role within the Industrial Welding Department at Baker Manufacturing. This position performs a variety of Pipe handling and preparation work to ensure welders can focus on skilled fabrication and assembly work. Key duties include material handling of pipe, cutting of pipe, grinding / finishing pipe, threading lift-out assemblies, cutting holes in Upper Casing used in pitless units. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-conscious, and flexible across various support functions in a manufacturing environment.

Pipe Shop Operator Key Responsibilities :

  • Move raw materials and finished parts between work cells using forklifts, hoists, or carts.
  • Assist welders with staging materials and clearing completed work.
  • Organize and restock material areas to support continuous workflow.
  • Operate pipe cutters, threaders, and related equipment to produce lift-out assemblies for pitless units.
  • Measure and verify thread depths and pipe dimensions to ensure quality and fit.
  • Clean and prep threaded parts for welding or final assembly.
  • Operate Band Saw or cutting torch to cut pipe to length
  • Grind cutting surface to remove sharp edge
  • Cut holes in upper casing to match design
  • Assist welders and leads with job preparation and cleanup.
  • Follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE.
  • Participate in cross-training opportunities to support other department tasks as needed.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts, hoists, and hand tools.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to follow instructions and job travelers.
  • Willingness to work in a physically demanding and dynamic environment.
  • Comfortable with repetitive tasks and flexible in daily work assignments.
  • All other duties as assigned

Monday-Thursday 5am-3pm

Mandatory overtime as needed

Compensation details : 19-21 Hourly Wage
