Overview
Engineering Manager role at Keystone Steel & Wire in Peoria, Illinois. Location : Peoria, IL. Salary Range : $125,000 – $175,000. Schedule : Full-time, Exempt.
What You'll Do
- Lead and oversee the entire engineering program for the company.
- Establish project priorities, timelines, and ensure on-time completion.
- Manage capital projects from concept through execution, including feasibility studies, design, budgeting, and vendor oversight.
- Troubleshoot existing systems and develop cost-effective solutions to operational challenges.
- Partner with the General Manager on strategic projects, construction, and repairs.
- Set department goals, processes, and preventive systems to maximize performance.
- Monitor plant equipment and operations, minimizing downtime and identifying improvement opportunities.
- Lead, coach, and develop the engineering team, fostering professional growth and strong performance.
- Maintain and update operating and training manuals for the department.
- Conduct on-site inspections and provide innovative, proactive engineering solutions.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies, company standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education : Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).Experience : 10–15 years in engineering, maintenance, or project management within a large industrial / manufacturing setting.Skills : Strong knowledge of engineering systems and principles; capital expenditure and project management including budgeting, cost tracking, and vendor management; proficiency in CMMS and reporting tools; excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management abilities; strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of both electrical and mechanical systems.Mindset : Strategic thinker, adaptable to changing conditions, proactive leader who can balance big-picture goals with hands-on problem solving.Physical & Working Conditions
Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.Exposure to loud environments, mechanical equipment, and varying conditions (indoor / outdoor).Requires close, distance, and color vision, plus ability to adjust focus.Why Join Us
