Responsibilities
- Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations.
- Develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest and providing outstanding guest service experiences.
- Ensure products are easy to see and buy, build sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests, and grow guest loyalty and repeat business.
- Supervise Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Provide best-in-class guest service : greet guests, respond to questions / concerns, inform guests of promotions, recommend items, apply selling behaviors, and circulate throughout the store.
- Support the total shopping environment, including visual / operational elements and current sales initiatives.
- Process guest purchases / returns using the POS system accurately and efficiently.
- Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager as needed.
- Promote GameStop guest benefits (e.g., new title reservations program, trade-in program, Pro Rewards).
- Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates on policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines.
- Provide feedback to Store Manager, address unsatisfactory performance, and input performance data into Workday / HR system as appropriate.
- Ensure associates complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training prior to opening / closing shifts. Ensure knowledge of store policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocol, and ethical responsibilities.
- Schedule store associates to follow guidelines; supervise staffing to maintain optimal guest service; adhere to opening / closing procedures.
- Approve payroll and manage time off requests; verify time worked and pay appropriately.
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per guidelines; ensure equipment is in proper working order.
- Fulfill Omni-Channel orders and ship daily.
- Protect company assets via inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages at closing / shift end as needed and report concerns to the Store Manager.
- Meet and exceed sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete required administrative duties.
- Perform inventory counts, restock merchandise, and ensure items are represented and organized on the floor.
- Count, balance, and reconcile daily transaction totals; manage closeout paperwork and banking per guidelines.
- Verify shipments for discrepancies and record issues; conduct inventories and communicate discrepancies to management.
- Process defectives / recalls and stock pulls; label boxes and include packing lists.
- Maintain guest and associate safety; report injuries per guidelines.
- Assist in maintaining store records / files and ensure manuals are up to date.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in absence of Store Manager.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
- Adhere to opening and closing procedures.
Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.Must be at least 18 years old.High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and / or management experience preferred.Video game knowledge preferred.Key Job Skills And Abilities
