Regional Safety Trainer

At RQ, we are committed to fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement. We are seeking a Regional Safety Trainer to join our team in Jacksonville, FL to lead in-person training programs for our craft and staff personnel. This role plays a critical part in building and maintaining a strong safety culture across our Self-Perform Division by ensuring that all team members are trained, competent, and confident in safe work practices.

The ideal candidate is an experienced safety professional with hands-on construction experience and a passion for developing others through engaging, high-quality safety training.

  • Candidates residing in the local area will receive priority consideration.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Conduct in-person safety training on topics including :
  • First Aid / CPR
  • Fall Protection & Rescue
  • Confined Space Entry
  • Powered Industrial Truck Operation (Forklifts)
  • Aerial Lifts
  • Hazard Communication
  • Excavation Safety
  • Other industrial safety topics as needed
  • Support safety onboarding for all new Self-Perform hires
  • Deliver refresher and re-training sessions as required
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety training records for all employees
  • Collaborate with Project SSHOs and Regional Safety Managers to identify training gaps and specialized needs
  • Provide field-level support and serve as an on-site safety resource when needed
  • Promote and model a proactive, safety-first culture aligned with company values and operational goals
  • Contribute to safety process improvements and standardization initiatives
  • Qualifications & Experience :

    Required :

  • 5+ years of experience in the commercial construction industry, with at least 5 years in construction safety management
  • OSHA 30-Hour and / or EM 385-1-1 40-Hour (completed within past 5 years)
  • Valid OSHA 500 Instructor certification
  • Hands-on experience operating scissor lifts, aerial work platforms, and forklifts / telehandlers
  • Competent person training or experience in Fall Protection, Confined Space, Electrical, Trenching / Excavation, PPE, and Scaffolding (Other related professional degrees or certificates desired and will be considered in lieu of competent person training, including the following : o NFPA 70E o NCCCO Rigger / Signalman I (at least lv 1) o FA / CPR / AED Trainer o Fall Protection Train-the-Trainer (EM 385-1-1 focus preferred))
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written); ability to train and engage diverse workforces
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with digital safety management tools (e.g., Hammertech, Power BI, Adobe Build)
  • Preferred :

  • Bi-lingual (English / Spanish)
  • Prior experience as a tradesperson (carpenter, electrician, concrete finisher, mechanical installer, etc.)
  • Experience with NAVFAC, USACE, and EM 385-1-1 compliance
  • Professional safety certifications (CSP, CHST, OHST, ASP) through BCSP
