Equipment Operator I for Public Works (CDL Driver)

Harris County, Georgia, with a population of 36,000 and located in west central Georgia along the Alabama border 60 minutes southwest of Atlanta and 30 minutes north of Columbus, is accepting applications for a full-time Equipment Operator I to work Monday thru Thursday, 7 : 00 am to 5 : 00 pm. This position operates equipment in the repair and maintenance of county roads and related infrastructure.

HSD or GED; moderate experience in construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, sidewalks, driveways, drainage ways, and related facilities; ability to operate machinery and equipment including loaders, rollers, mowers, street maintenance equipment; possess and maintain valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL Class B with no restrictions); must possess State of Georgia Correctional Officer I Certification at minimum security level (to supervise and work with inmates) or obtain same at first opportunity class is offered after hire date.

The starting wage is $18.22 per hour, plus generous benefits including a five-year vesting schedule for retirement.
