Labor & Delivery RN Job Details – Abilene, TX Estimated Weekly Salary Range : $1910 - $2040 Assignment Length : 13 weeks (October 27, 2025 – January 26, 2026) Healthcare Setting : Labor & Delivery Recovery Room Location : Abilene, Texas 79601 (West Texas nursing jobs) Shift : Night shifts, 3x12-hour (7 : 00 PM – 7 : 00 AM) Hours per Week : 36 Employment Type : Locum tenens (travel RN contract) Orientation : 36 hours Flu Vaccine : Required (medical / religious exemptions available) COVID-19 Vaccine : Not required Local Radius Rule : Must live at least 150 miles from facility Registered Nurse Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Texas or compact state Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience required; 3 years preferred BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN certifications required First-time travel nurses welcome! Ability to float to other hospital units or campuses as needed Experience with Allscripts or Altera electronic charting systems preferred Strong adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced clinical environment Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns in the Labor & Delivery Recovery Room Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and vaginal births Perform and assist with specialized procedures : amniocentesis, epidural anesthesia, fetal monitoring Administer medications including anticoagulants, anticonvulsants, and antihypertensives Provide breastfeeding and lactation education to new parents Conduct newborn assessments and provide care for neonates, infants, adolescents, and adults Educate families on discharge instructions, car seat safety, and circumcision care Maintain accurate documentation and patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams : respiratory therapy, radiology, social services, and rapid response Float to other nursing units or campuses as needed to support patient care Ready to take the next step in your nursing career?
