Position Summary
The Hill School is seeking a full-time 1 st Shift (7am to 3pm) Campus Security Officer – Supervisor. This person will be responsible for direct supervision of 1st Shift operations, including the conduct, appearance, and performance of 1st Shift Campus Security Officers on duty. The supervisor will also provide personal, equipment, and real property security for students, faculty, staff, and visitors within an assigned area of the campus. Lastly, they are expected to provide escort services, and other basic public assistance services as needed, and perform routine security and public safety patrol duties. In an emergency security is expected to remain calm and alert.
Responsibilities
Primary focus of the 1st Shift Campus Security Officer - Supervisor includes but are not limited to the following :
- Verbally pass on any virtual information to the Campus Security Officers on duty.
- Communicates to 2 nd Shift Campus Security Officer – Supervisor essential information which occurred during 1 st Shift.
- Ensure Campus Security Officers notate special assignments and observations during the shift.
- Determines and delegates patrol assignments.
- Inspects daily attire to ensure compliance with dress code
- Assigns vehicles, including golf carts and patrol cars, as needed.
- Assures compliance of the Security and Transportation Policy Manual.
- Actively trains, counsels, and supports Campus Security Officers.
- Investigates incidents promptly and notifies Director of Security immediately .
- Sounds alarms or notifies the police or fire department promptly in an emergency or the presence of unauthorized person(s) are permitted on campus and / or athletic facilities.
- Acts as the point of contact for Pottstown Police and Fire Departments with incidents on 1 st shift.
- Maintains regular patrols of campus interior and perimeter, on foot and / or in a Hill authorized vehicle, safely.
- Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, and / or carrying forbidden articles, and promptly reporting this person(s) engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
- Watches and reports hazards, defects, and other loss vulnerabilities, such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, unlocked doors, and other risk management concerns.
- Screens pedestrian and vehicular access to campus via the Gatehouse and other entry points to assure only authorized person(s) are permitted on campus or athletic facilities.
- Have a proficient understanding of security technology, including video camera system operations, card access systems, mass alert systems, and other emerging technology .
- Completes Incident Reports for all reportable incidents that occurred on campus.
- Submits property maintenance service requests to School Dude when maintenance and / or repairs are required .
- Assists with fleet readiness and vehicle delivery to authorized drivers for trips, including signing vehicles in or out, refueling, and subsequent cleanings.
- Answers radio calls and / or incoming phone calls professionally via security radio.
- Performs assigned administrative responsibilities
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Valid Driver's license.High school diploma or GED.One to three months related experience preferred.Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.Experience in patrolling premises-either on foot or by vehicle-is crucial, to ensure thorough patrols and emergency responses.Experience and demonstrated success working with diverse student communities is preferred, but not required.Regular use of hands and fingers for handling and feeling.Visual acuity including close and distance vision, color discernment, peripheral vision, depth perception and focus adjustment.Must be able to communicate effectively, by speaking, to be understood when giving or receiving directions or reports, communicating with staff, residents and faculty.Hearing acuity required.Must be able to walk extensively, including navigating hills and stairs, without assistance.Additional physical requirements include reaching, crouching, crawling, balancing, and climbing.Must be able to lift and move items up to 50lbs.Ability to successfully conduct security patrols without direct supervision.Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.Ability to understand, follow and give specific instructions and procedures.Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.Ability to multitask under stressful situations.Comfortable with regular exposure to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and / or humid conditions.Previous Public Safety experience, preferred.CPR, preferred.Attitude and Demeanor
