Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry Observation Unit position requiring recent acute care experience and ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.
Responsibilities
Work in a 16-bed Observation / Telemetry unit within an acute care hospitalPatient population includes chest pain, post heart cath, stable pre-CABG, and post-procedure patientsNo vents, bipap, or cpap used on the unitCerner EMR is used; Cerner experience preferredNight shift, 12-hour shifts, with every 3rd weekend requiredMust work 2 out of 3 major holidays on a rotation with core staffFloating is required to any tele / med-surg floor, including the possibility to float to a sister facilityCharge nurse present 24 / 7; patient care techs staffed per censusNo IV team; hospitalist covers callCare for patients following observation protocols, including cardiac monitoring and post-procedural careExpected to float first among staff when floating is neededMust wear navy scrubs24 / 7 access to respiratory therapy and pharmacy servicesNo patients with alcohol withdrawal unless beyond three daysFirst time travelers will be consideredCandidates who do not pass required exams after two attempts will be ineligible for future positions with the organization for six months (with some regional exceptions)Orientation includes two days of floor-specific trainingMust pass both a dysrhythmia exam and simulated lab to begin assignmentRequirements
Active RN license (state or compact) required at the time of considerationMinimum of 2 years of recent acute care RN experience within the past 6 monthsCurrent ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications requiredMust pass a dysrhythmia exam within 24-48 hours of offer (maximum 2 attempts)Must pass a simulated skills lab on day 1 of orientationCandidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility, verified with a current driver’s licenseMust provide a copy of a current driver’s license for considerationMay not have worked at a facility affiliated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity in a staff role within the past 12 monthsTwo professional references required : one supervisor reference from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from the last 3 years with employment dates and rehire eligibilityBenefits
