LOCATION : Las Cruces, NM

SHIFT : Days

JOB TYPE : Full-Time Permanent

Job Description :

We are in search of a great Preoperative Registered Nurse to perform thorough preoperative patient assessment required in the outpatient setting. Performs safe and individualized nursing care for the patient in the immediate postoperative / post- anesthesia period. Surveils patients and administers physician's orders during both the preoperative and postoperative stages.

Responsibilities :

The Preoperative Nurse will be responsible for planning, executing and evaluating the nursing care rendered preoperatively.

Prepare your patient's care area adequately before each case.
Ensure availability of necessary equipment and supplies for your patient's procedure.
Conduct a complete physical and psychological assessment while evaluating your patient's history and diagnostic tests.
Review your patient's charts prior to surgery.
Administer pre-operative medications and intravenous therapy as prescribed.
Monitor your patients until transfer to the OR.

Requirements :

Minimum of 1 year of recent experience as an RN in a clinical setting.

Active RN license within the State of practice.

Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing – ASN.

Current BCLS / ACLS certification (no online certifications).

2 years of experience in a PACU or ICU setting.

Ambulatory surgery center experience – Preferred.

Gastro experience – Preferred.

Ideal candidate should be flexible and able to jump in where needed.

Will float to Prep OP – PACU – Post Op.

Spanish speaking PREFERRED.
