Position Summary :

A Phlebotomist is responsible for drawing blood from patients for various laboratory tests and procedures. This role requires excellent patient interaction skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of safety and hygiene protocols.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Collect blood specimens from patients via venipuncture, capillary, or arterial methods.
  • Accurately label, document, and process specimens for laboratory testing.
  • Verify patient identification and ensure specimen integrity.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-stocked work area.
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines, including infection control procedures.
  • Transport specimens to the lab or arrange for courier services as needed.
  • Calm and reassure patients who may be anxious or fearful of the procedure.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with medical and legal standards.
  • Assist with clerical duties such as scheduling, data entry, and filing as needed.

    • Requirements :

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program.
  • Certification (e.g., CPT, PBT) preferred or required depending on employer.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
  • Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain patient confidentiality.
