Our client is a chemical manufacturer of a wide range of chemical-based products used in multiple different markets. They are in search of an Operations Engineer with the ability to handle an array of duties / responsibilities and collaborate with employees of all levels. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, problem solver with PSM experience.
Responsibilities include :
- Day-to-day support of manufacturing in multiple chemical production areas.
- Providing technical expertise to resolve any issues in production and becoming the Subject Matter Expert from a technical aspect for the facility.
- Driving / participating in root / cause analysis efforts and investigations and subsequent solutions when there are process upsets.
- Reviewing data sheets of all campaigns to identify any variances and performing any testing needed to make sure future runs are manufactured optimally.
- Handling any manufacturing conflicts / tough situations that arise in production.
- Identifying productivity improvements in the plants and doing necessary work to implement approved improvements.
- Driving solutions to debottleneck any process problems and implementing improvement initiatives.
- Interfacing with the engineer group on any capital projects being installed in the facility and acting as the manufacturing rep for projects.
- Other duties include participating / assisting with training of Operators, Hazard Reviews, incident investigation, and implementation of management of change directives.
- Working with the DCS technician on collecting data for analysis, optimization of the controls, etc.
- Providing commissioning and start-up assistance on projects.
Requirements include, but are not limited to :
B.S., Chemical Engineering degree3 - 8 years of chemical manufacturing experienceStrong chemical unit operations experience - filtration, batch reactors, heat exchangers, pumps, instrumentation, and controlsDay-to-day support of production units and troubleshootingExperience reviewing cycle time data, waste generation, operating costs, and yield data to find opportunities for improvement and implement solutions.Working knowledge of PSM standard is necessaryStrong communication skills requiredParticipation in PHA re-validation and complete action item follow-upSmall capital project execution would be idealSix Sigma / Lean Manufacturing training idealWe are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all qualified candidates.
