POSITION DESCRIPTION :
Think Tank is seeking an experienced Seafood Trade Monitoring Program Specialist to support the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) across its seafood trade monitoring programs , with primary focus on the Seafood Import Monitoring Program (SIMP) . This role will help advance U.S. efforts to combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing , ensure compliance with seafood trade regulations, and strengthen transparency and accountability in global seafood supply chains. The successful candidate will work closely with NMFS leadership, stakeholders, and international partners to support compliance, outreach, and program implementation efforts under SIMP and other trade-related initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Provide guidance to NMFS leadership and staff on implementation of seafood trade program requirements and industry compliance.
Respond to inquiries from stakeholders via NMFS email and phone lines, including technical troubleshooting for import clearance and collecting stakeholder feedback.
Develop compliance materials, resources, and outreach products to support industry and stakeholder understanding of seafood trade requirements.
Organize and assist in workshops, webinars, and calls to inform and support international partners and domestic stakeholders in meeting program obligations.
Learn and use NMFS databases for trade data analysis and compliance
Provide program support for other seafood trade monitoring programs as needed
REQUIREMENTS :
Skills & Knowledge :
Strong professional writing skills with the ability to translate technical and regulatory concepts into clear, plain language.
Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides).
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with ability to collaborate across teams, agencies, and stakeholder groups.
Proficiency in one or more non-English languages preferred but not required.
