Summary

We seek a highly experienced SQL Database Administrator to manage and maintain our Microsoft SQL Server corporate databases, ensuring data integrity, availability, security, and performance. This role is critical in supporting both on-premises and cloud database environments, with a strong focus on Azure technologies. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of SQL Server administration, performance tuning, enterprise-scale database support, and hands-on experience migrating databases to the Azure SQL Cloud and integrating with Azure Data Lake and Azure Data Factory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain Microsoft SQL Server corporate databases, ensuring high availability, reliability, and data integrity.
  • Set up, monitor, and validate database backups; support recovery strategies.
  • Maintain and administer database security, including logins, users, and roles.
  • Perform system tuning, performance monitoring, and proactive database maintenance.
  • Profile, identify, and resolve database performance issues, including query and index optimization.
  • Provide database capacity planning, forecasting, and growth management.
  • Assist with quarterly patching of database cluster nodes and instances.
  • Create and maintain database objects such as stored procedures, views, and triggers.
  • Review and execute database deploy scripts as part of application release processes.
  • Coordinate and execute database upgrades, migrations, and installation of supporting utilities.
  • Provide SSRS report development and support.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot SSIS packages.
  • Contribute to architecture discussions, recommending platform design, upgrades, scalability, performance, and recoverability.
  • Perform quarterly SOX audit tasks, including review of security, jobs, job history, and backup restores (CommVault).
  • Refresh Stage and Test environments upon request.
  • Work Jira tickets, including employee off-boarding database-related tasks.
  • Support Azure database solutions, including Azure Data Lake and Azure Data Factory pipelines.
  • Lead initiatives to migrate on-premise SQL databases to Azure SQL Cloud environments.
  • Back up Azure BI Environment and assist with Azure Data Factory Pipelines.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Database Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Database Administrator in an enterprise environment.
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server administration, performance tuning, backup / recovery, and security.
  • Proven experience with Azure SQL Cloud, Azure Data Lake, and Azure Data Factory.
  • Demonstrated experience in migrating large-scale on-premise SQL databases to Azure cloud.
  • Familiarity with SOX audit compliance and database security best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex database performance issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across IT and business teams.
  • Candidate must be self-motivated, determined, and make calculated decisions.
