Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cath Lab position requiring a SD or compact license, advanced cardiac skills, and strong coronary and peripheral case experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the Cardiac Cath Lab of a level II trauma and teaching hospital
  • Patient population includes coronary artery disease, STEMI, cardiogenic shock, complex occlusions, valvular and renal disease, carotid and peripheral stenosis, thrombosis, and advanced device insertions such as Impella and LVAD
  • RN-to-patient ratio is 1 : 1
  • Position involves specialized skills such as critical assessment, sedation drug administration, and operation of devices including IABP, Impella, Rotoblator, and Penumbra
  • Utilizes EPIC as the primary EMR; experience with Epic Cupid is preferred
  • 10-hour variable shifts with a 40-hour work week
  • On-call required 1-2 days per week from 1630-0600 and every 4th weekend from Friday evening to Monday morning
  • Weekend rotation every fourth weekend and possible holiday requirement
  • Duties include assessment, direct patient care during procedures, device operation, and responding to critical situations
  • Orientation consists of 4 days with 10-hour shifts
  • Support provided by a charge nurse Monday through Friday, no CNA or phlebotomy support
  • No floating between departments required
  • Procedural scrubs are provided
  • Free parking available
  • First-time travelers considered only if highly experienced in complex coronary and peripheral cases
  • Time off must be approved by the manager

    • Requirements

  • Active SD or compact RN license required
  • Minimum of 2 years Cath Lab RN experience with expertise in coronary, structural heart, complex PCI, and peripheral cases
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Experience with critical patient assessment, vasoactive and sedation medications, and sterile technique required
  • Must live at least 100 miles from the facility
  • Experience with EPIC EMR required and Epic Cupid preferred
  • Previous permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
