job_description.job_card.job_descriptionLocation : Mission Viejo, CA Facility Type : Community Hospital Unit Type : Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Avg Daily Census : 10 Beds : 22 Rooms : 6 Age Groups : Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents Diagnoses : Prematurity, ELBW, LPI, RDS, sepsis, hypoglycemia, occasional surgeries Admissions : Mostly from L&D (90%); ~5% from outside (home, MD office, ED) Acuity : Ranges from critical to feeder / growers; rapid census fluctuation (5–20 patients) RN Ratio (All Shifts) : 1 : 2 Shifts : 12 hours (07 : 00–19 : 30 / 19 : 00–07 : 30) Weekends : Every other or every third; 6 shifts per 6-week schedule required Float : Required to PICU and Peds (6-hour orientation provided) First to Float : Travelers Common Equipment : Dräger Vents, Oscillators (occasional), Nitric Oxide (infrequent) Feeding Tools : MilkTracker, Centralized Milk Handling Monitoring / Documentation : EPIC (with scanner), SBAR communication Attend high-risk deliveries Frequent PICC use (NICU-based PICC Team) Cue-based feeding, developmental support emphasis Neonatal sepsis care, therapeutic hypothermia, NAS (ESC model) Respiratory support : Bubble CPAP, HFNC, Ventilator management, Suctioning Lab draws by RNs Strong family-centered care culture Required : NRP (Advanced preferred) PALS (due to float to Peds / PICU) Experience Required : 5 years for night shift Previous charge experience : Preferred Must state exact months / years of NICU experience on submission Self-Scheduling : Allowed as long as unit needs are met Culture Fit Is Key : Best suited for RNs who value teamwork, flexibility, and a family-like unit culture Not a Tertiary / Quaternary Care Center Scrubs : Any color (professional); no logos / emblems; gel nails not permitted First-Time Travelers Accepted?
