Job Summary : Public Relations Assistant
The Public Relations Specialist will help raise the profile of JPCHC and its entities in the Central Indiana community. This role will work under the Director of Marketing & Communications to clarify our services and values to patients, media, funders, referral organizations, professional associations, academic institutions, and legislative / regulatory agencies. The PR Specialist will also help with other outreach and content initiatives, guiding messaging to align with media narratives and evaluating sponsorship opportunities.
Responsibilities
Help plan strategy for and set goals for JPCHC public relations campaigns.Identify and research opportunities for media placements of JPCHC subject matter experts.Reach out to media and others to secure placements (quotes, interviews, speaking opportunities, bylines, panels, etc.).Monitor and track media coverage and compile reports on media outcomes.Coordinate coverage and messaging across multiple entities : Jane Pauley Community Health Center primary care services, JPCHC Foundation, JPCHC Pharmacy, and Turning Point Systems of CareWork with Marketing Design team to identify messaging themes for social media, website, and other content projects to align with broader value proposition language.Collaborate with internal teams to gather information and assist in the development of key messages and communication materials.Monitor and respond to inquiries and requests from the media and other stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.Handle administrative tasks, such as scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and maintaining PR materials inventory.Evaluate sponsorship opportunities, award submission / “best-of” list applications, and work with the Outreach team to prioritize event representationHelp build relationships with partner organizations / referral sources and collaborate on cross-sharing publicity.All other duties as assigned.Required skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with great attention to detail.Proficiency in using PR and media monitoring tools.Familiarity with social media platforms and their use in PR campaigns.Basic knowledge of public relations principles and practices.Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field preferred.Previous experience or internships in a PR or communications role is preferred.Knowledge of AP Style and writing for various platforms.Strong work ethic and a proactive attitude.Knowledge of industry trends and emerging PR practices.Familiarity with web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) is a plus.More about Jane Pauley Community Health Center
