Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a day shift Emergency Department position requiring a NM or compact RN license and strong procedural competency.
Responsibilities Work in a community-based Emergency Department with a Medical Surgical patient population
Patient presentations include respiratory, GI / GU, cardiac, neuro, minor trauma, OB / GYN, integumentary, and initial care for strokes, STEMIs, major trauma, and pediatrics prior to transfer
Special procedures performed include chest tubes, thoracentesis, paracentesis, RSI, procedural sedation, splinting, vacuum D&C, central lines, US-guided IVs, and use of restraints
Equipment commonly used includes Rapid Infuser, EZ IO, Lifepack 15 & 20, GE monitors, GE EKG, and Glidescope
Day shift scheduling with 4x12 hour shifts (06 : 30-19 : 00)
Required to work every other weekend, with a minimum of 3 weekends per 6-week schedule
No floating to other units required
Epic EMR experience preferred
No local candidates accepted within a 50 mile radius
Work within a supportive team structure that includes 24 / 7 physician coverage, midlevel providers, and additional RNs and PCTs
No specific scrub color required, but scrubs must be free of logos
Modules and orientation will be completed onsite and include up to 4-6 hours of training for RNs
No travel pairs or groups will be considered
Holiday coverage as scheduled
A maximum of 3 days RTO will be auto-approved; no RTO permitted during first week of orientation
Requirements Active NM or compact RN license required at time of consideration
Certifications required : ACLS, BLS, and PALS
2-3 years recent experience in a progressive or acute ER environment required
First-time travelers accepted only with 2-3 years of applicable ER experience
Experience with emergency department procedures and equipment required
Epic charting experience preferred
Former permanent staff must have 1 year separation before returning as a traveler
