What Your Job Will Be Like

Are you ready to shape internal communications and empower our mission support division?

If so, Organization 00158, Operations Communications, is seeking a Program Communications Specialist to support the executive leading Sandia mission support division. The selected candidate would be responsible for internal communications on topics that may include quality, contract assurance, supply chain management, policies, finance, accounting, and more.

On any given day, one may be called upon to :

Proactively identify executives' communications needs

Consult with subject matter experts to develop and implement communications plans that meet executive needs and priorities for near- and long-term projects

Create communications including division messages, emails, and websites targeted to key internal audiences

Structure executive-led events, including all-hands meetings and town halls; work with subject matter experts to craft presentations and talking points

Collaborate with Creative Services on the development of print, digital, video, and more

Partner with corporate communications specialists to send Labs-wide communications

The selected applicant can work a combination of onsite and offsite work. The selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.

Salary Range

$62,400 - $140,600

Qualifications We Require

A Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, English, Humanities, Technical Writing, Business, STEM, or a relevant field; or equivalent experience and / or achievements that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job.

The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.

Qualified candidates will be asked to provide samples of their work and complete a writing exercise as part of the interview process.

Qualifications We Desire

A Master's degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, English, Humanities, Technical Writing, Business, STEM, or a relevant field.

Proven ability to design, develop, and implement strategic communication plans and supporting tactics in environments with evolving requirements.

Demonstrated ability to create content that resonates with diverse, multigenerational audiences at all organizational levels.

Strong understanding of internal communications metrics and their application in driving effective communications strategies.

Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and with individuals at all organizational levels

Experience translating complex business or technical concepts into compelling, persuasive, and plain language communications products.

Dedicated to continuous learning and adapting to new tools and methodologies in the field of communications.

Proven ability to multitask, set priorities, and deliver strong results

Proficient in SharePoint, WordPress, OneDrive, and Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, with excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills.

About Our Team

The Sandia National Laboratories Communications center is responsible for all public and Labswide communications functions for a $4 billion national security lab with about 15,000 employees and major sites in New Mexico and California. These positions are contributors to a diverse and engaged laboratories communication team. The Internal, Digital and Executive Communications Department serves as the point of contact for critical and conventional internal communications from executive and emergency messaging to corporate and operational messaging. The department maintains the primary Labswide employee communications channels and supports program communicators who are matrixed to organizations across the labs.

Posting Duration

Security Clearance

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment / education verifications. NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs
