Three Rivers Diagnostics is seeking a reliable, experienced, and upbeat Full Time Specimen Processor to unpack and enter all data accompanying specimens received at the laboratory and to begin the testing process, as well as collect samples for our laboratory in Pittsburgh, PA. Role and Responsibilities :
Receiving and logging incoming specimens, verifying patient information and matching specimen with the requisition form.Labeling specimens accurately with patient details and sorting them based on test type and priority.Inputting patient information, specimen details, and test orders into the laboratory information system (LIS).Aliquoting specimens, centrifuging samples as needed and preparing them for analysis according to established laboratory protocols.Distributing specimens to the appropriate testing areas within the laboratory.Monitoring specimen integrity, identifying potential errors, and following quality assurance procedures escalating any issues to direct supervisor when necessary.Storing and disposing of specimens properly and according to laboratory regulations.Answers departmental phone calls, and emails in a timely mannerAssist clients as neededPerforms other job-related duties as neededSupports ongoing changes in a professional manner contributes to a positive work environment and to the team effort of the laboratory.Requirements :
Minimum Education Required
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum Experience Required
Six months lab accessioning experience preferred; previous medical field experience is preferred.
Skills Required
Basic understanding of Medical Terminology and Laboratory Procedures, Data Entry, Lab Compliance, Microsoft Application, Organizational Skills, Work Independently in a timely manner.
Professional Certifications or Licenses
HIPAA
