Payroll Specialist in the Wausau Area
As a Payroll Specialist, you will ensure accurate and confidential administration of payroll processes across the organization. You will identify and implement improvements to enhance service delivery and employee satisfaction, while promoting a safe working environment by participating in safety initiatives and programs.
Responsibilities
- Ensure timely processing of payrolls, tax deposits, garnishments, levies, and related submissions.
- Maintain records for quarterly tax filings and state unemployment reporting.
- Assist with year-end processing including W-2 and federal / state reporting.
- Support payroll system maintenance including updates, parameter files, and tax tables.
- Participate in testing and implementation of new payroll systems.
- Prepare for and participate in workers' compensation audits.
- Ensure timely ACH submissions for payroll-related payments and serve as contact for ACH inquiries, including deposits and reversals.
- Monitor payroll system for compliance with tax shelter caps.
- Assist with special payroll tasks such as termination checks and retroactive pay.
- Respond to inquiries regarding payroll policies and employee questions.
- Research payroll and tax issues as needed.
- Support financial audits and regulatory reporting.
- Collaborate with Human Resources departments.
- Complete special projects and maintain confidentiality.
- Stay current with federal and state payroll laws.
Essential Skills
Associate Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.Previous experience in payroll or accounting within a business office setting.In-depth knowledge of payroll processes and systems.Demonstrated accuracy, efficiency, and confidentiality.Ability to work independently with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.Work Environment
This role is based at our Wausau Corporate office, requiring 40 hours a week from Monday to Friday. Work during typical office hours in a professional setting.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.10 - $25.00 / hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Wausau, WI.
