Homemaker - Adult Day Program Part-time (Days)

Report to : Adult Day Director

Part-time 20 hrs. - Monday through Friday 10 : 30am - 2 : 30pm

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Homemaker will work as a member of the interdisciplinary Adult Day Program team. The Homemaker is responsible for collaborative menu planning, food ordering and stocking, applying and documenting nutritional principles, safe food handling practices and the overall sanitation and cleanliness of the kitchen and dining area.

JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES / EXPECTATIONS

  • Exhibit a strong positive attitude toward JSS Mission, Vision and Core Values and customer service and have a genuine interest in individualized Person First
  • Promote meaningful relationships with clients, families, visitors and regulators, always reflecting a professional appearance and attitude.
  • Keeps the overall function of the kitchen and dietary program running smoothly. Work with the Team to ensure a neat, clean appearance of the dining area at all times. Participates in action teams / ad hoc as required.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, comfortable and functional environment by assessing the kitchen and dining area for potential hazards, implementing practices utilizing appropriate techniques regarding sanitation, infection control, fire safety, disaster preparedness and emergency care, participate in investigating and reporting all incidents and accidents, observing for safe work habits and addressing observations.

Education : HS Diploma or GED

Experience : At least 1year of experience working in a Health Care or Food Services industry

  • Understanding, patience, tact in dealing with the chronically ill and those with cognitive decline.
  • Professionally and positively represent Jewish Senior Services.
  • Good physical and mental health.
  • Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Possess sight / hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met.
  • Must function independently.
  • May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of clients during emergency situations.
  • Extensive walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting (50 lbs. or more), pushing and pulling.
